MassMutual Ascend, Annuity Investors, and Manhattan National MOVEit Data Breach

Maxey Law Firm is investigating MassMutual Ascend Life Insurance Company, Annuity Investors Life Insurance Company, and Manhattan National Life Insurance Company (collectively, “MMA”), which recently sent notice of a Data Breach to impacted individuals. The notice states that the Data Breach arose from a vulnerability in a file transfer application that MMA’s third party service provider uses called MOVEit.

MMA reported that the Data Breach impacted 70,441 Texas residents, 22,482 Massachusetts residents, and 3,123 Delaware residents.

For each of these impacted individuals, the information involved may have included their name, Social Security number, date of birth, gender, zip code, and policy number.

It is unclear whether or not the Social Security numbers were encrypted and, if not, why they were not encrypted.
