PHH Mortgage Corporation MOVEit Data Privacy Event

Maxey Law Firm is investigating PHH Mortgage Corporation, which recently sent notice of a Data Privacy Event to impacted individuals. The notice states that the Data Privacy Event arose from a vulnerability in a file transfer application that PHH Mortgage Corporation’s third-party vendor uses called MOVEit.

For each of these 111,285 individuals, the information involved may have included their name, Social Security Number, date of birth, and/or address.

It is unclear whether or not the Social Security numbers were encrypted and, if not, why they were not encrypted.
