Cadence Bank MOVEit Cybersecurity Incident

Maxey Law Firm is investigating Cadence Bank, which recently sent notice of a cybersecurity incident to impacted individuals. The notice states that the cybersecurity incident arose from a vulnerability in a file transfer application that Cadence Bank uses called MOVEit.

Cadence Bank reported that the cybersecurity incident impacted 96,972 Texas residents. Residents of other states may have been impacted as well.

For each of these impacted individuals, the information involved may have included their name, address, Social Security number information, driver’s license number, and financial information (e.g. account number, credit or debit card number).

It is unclear whether or not the Social Security numbers were encrypted and, if not, why they were not encrypted.
