HealthEquity Data Breach Lawsuit Investigation

Maxey Law Firm is investigating HealthEquity Inc., which recently sent notice of a data breach to impacted individuals.

HealthEquity reported that the data breach may have impacted 75,034 residents of South Carolina. Residents of other states may have also been impacted.

For each of these individuals, the information involved may have included their first name, last name, address, telephone number, employee ID, employer, Social Security number, dependent information (for general contact information only), and/or payment card information (but not payment card number of HealthEquity debit card information).

It is unclear whether or not the Social Security numbers were encrypted and, if not, why they were not encrypted.
