Kannact, Inc. Cybersecurity Incident

Maxey Law Firm is investigating Kannact, Inc., which recently sent notice of a Cybersecurity Incident to impacted individuals. The notice states that the Cybersecurity Incident arose when an unauthorized individual gained access to a limited portion of Kannact’s system and that the cause of the unauthorized access was a third party file transfer software.

Kannact, Inc. reported that the Cybersecurity Incident impacted 117,968 individuals.

For each of these 117,968 individuals, the information involved may have included their full name, address, date of birth, Social Security Number, health insurance information, and protected health information, including, but not limited to, medical diagnosis, treatment, pharmaceutical records, and/or Kannact ID.

It is unclear whether or not the Social Security numbers were encrypted and, if not, why they were not encrypted.
