MarineMax Data Breach Lawsuit Investigation

Maxey Law Firm is investigating MarineMax, Inc., which recently sent notice of a data breach to impacted individuals.

The notice states that on March 10, 2024, MarineMax discovered that it was the victim of a cybersecurity incident that impacted a limit portion of its information environment, during which an unauthorized third party acquired some of its data, which contained personal information.

MarineMax reported that the data breach may have impacted 123,494 individuals.

For each of these individuals, the information involved may have included their name, address, Social Security number information, driver’s license number, government-issued ID number (e.g. passport, state ID card), financial information (e.g. account number, credit or debit card number), medical information, and/or health insurance information.

It is unclear whether or not the Social Security numbers were encrypted and, if not, why they were not encrypted.
