O’Brien Steel Service (“OBS”) Data Breach

Maxey Law Firm is investigating O’Brien Steel Service (“OBS”), which recently sent notice of a data breach to impacted individuals. The notice states that the data breach arose when an unknown third party accessed OBS’s computer systems between May 18, 2023 and June 1, 2023, and obtained certain files from its systems as a part of the incident.

OBS reported that the data breach impacted 2,586 individuals.

For each of these 2,586 individuals, the information involved may have included their name, date of birth, Social Security number, and/or driver’s license number.

It is unclear whether or not the Social Security numbers were encrypted and, if not, why they were not encrypted.
