United Medical Centers Data Breach Class Action Lawsuit Investigation

Maxey Law Firm is investigating United Medical Centers (“UMS”), which recently sent notice of a data breach to impacted individuals.

The notice states that on or around July 26, 2023, UMS learned of suspicious activity in its systems, during which an unauthorized party accessed or removed some files from some of its systems.

UMS reported that the data breach may have impacted 127,157 residents of Texas. Residents of other states may have also been impacted.

For each of these individuals, the information involved may have included their names, dates of birth, mailing addresses, Social Security numbers, diagnosis and treatment information, and/or health insurance information.

It is unclear whether or not the Social Security numbers were encrypted and, if not, why they were not encrypted.
