Academy Mortgage Data Breach Class Action Lawsuit Investigation

Maxey Law Firm is investigating Academy Mortgage Corporation, which recently sent notice of a data breach to impacted individuals.

The notice states that on March 21, 2023, Academy detected and stopped a network security incident, in which an unauthorized third party accessed and disabled some of its systems and may have accessed certain individual personal information.

Academy reported that the data breach may have impacted 3,594 residents of South Carolina.

For each of these individuals, the information involved may have included their name, date of birth, and Social Security number.

It is unclear whether or not the Social Security numbers were encrypted and, if not, why they were not encrypted.
