American Meat Data Breach Class Action Lawsuit Investigation

Maxey Law Firm is investigating American Meat Companies (“AMC”), which recently sent notice of a data breach to impacted individuals.

The notice states that on or around July 19, 2023, AMC experienced a network disruption in its digital environment, during which a limited amount of data may have been accessed or acquired without authorization.

AMC reported that the data breach may have impacted 367 residents of Texas. Residents of California were also potentially impacted.

For each of these individuals, the information involved may have included their name, address, Social Security number information, driver’s license number, government-issued ID number (e.g. passport, state ID card) financial information (e.g. account number, credit or debit card number), medical information, health insurance information, and/or date of birth.

It is unclear whether or not the Social Security numbers were encrypted and, if not, why they were not encrypted.
