BHI Energy Data Security Incident

Maxey Law Firm is investigating BHI Energy (“BHI”), which recently sent notice of a data security incident to impacted individuals. The notice states that the data security incident arose when certain BHI business records stored in BHI’s network, including some records that contained personally identifiable information, were subject to unauthorized access.

BHI reported that the data security incident impacted 91,269 individuals.

For each of these 91,269 individuals, the information involved may have included their first, middle, and last name, address, date of birth, and Social Security number, and potentially health information.

It is unclear whether or not the Social Security numbers were encrypted and, if not, why they were not encrypted.
