The Newtron Group, L.L.C. Data Breach

Maxey Law Firm is investigating The Newtron Group, L.L.C., which recently sent notice of a data breach to impacted individuals. The notice states that the data breach arose when an unauthorized third party gained access to The Newtron Group’s computer systems from August 2, 2023 until August 3, 2023 and potentially accessed and acquired certain documents from those systems.

The Newtron Group reported that the data breach impacted 39,608 individuals.

For each of these 39,608 individuals, the information involved may have included their Social Security Number, Driver’s License Number, passport number, State or Military ID Number, financial account information such as a bank account or health savings account number, date of birth, medical information and health insurance information. For some individuals the information may have included a birth certificate, marriage certificate, or tax ID number.

It is unclear whether or not the Social Security numbers were encrypted and, if not, why they were not encrypted.
