Brooklyn Premier Orthopedics Data Security Incident

Maxey Law Firm is investigating Brooklyn Premier Orthopedics (“BPO”), which recently sent notice of a data security incident to impacted individuals. The notice states that the data security incident arose when a cybersecurity incident impacted BPO’s IT systems and certain patients’ information may have been exposed to the unauthorized party.

BPO reported that the data security incident impacted 48,459 individuals.

For each of these 48,459 individuals, the information involved may have included their name, address, date of birth, social security number and/or medical treatment information

It is unclear whether or not the Social Security numbers were encrypted and, if not, why they were not encrypted.
