Wescom Credit Union Data Breach

Maxey Law Firm is investigating Wescom Credit Union, which recently sent notice of a data breach to impacted individuals. The notice states that the data breach arose when some emails and attachments stored on network appliances between October 30, 2022 and May 30, 2023 were potentially at risk due to a wide-spread vulnerability in the appliances.

Wescom Credit Union reported that the data security incident impacted 34,515 individuals.

For each of these 34,515 individuals, the information involved may have included their Social Security number.

It is unclear whether or not the Social Security numbers were encrypted and, if not, why they were not encrypted.
