Deer Oaks Behavioral Health Data Security Incident

Maxey Law Firm is investigating Deer Oaks Behavioral Health, which recently sent notice of a data security incident to impacted individuals. The notice states that the data security incident arose from unauthorized activity within Deer Oaks’ computer network.

Deer Oaks reported that the data security incident impacted 171,871 individuals.

For each of these 171,871 individuals, the information involved may have included their names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, diagnosis codes, insurance information, and/or treatment service type.

It is unclear whether or not the Social Security numbers were encrypted and, if not, why they were not encrypted.
