Continental General Insurance Company MOVEit Data Breach

Maxey Law Firm is investigating Continental General Insurance Company, which recently sent notice of a data breach to impacted individuals. The notice states that the data breach arose from a vulnerability in a file transfer application that Continental General Insurance Company’s vendor uses called MOVEit.

Continental General Insurance Company reported that the third-party data breach impacted 38,886 individuals.

For each of these 38,886 individuals, the information involved may have included their name and Social Security number.

It is unclear whether or not the Social Security numbers were encrypted and, if not, why they were not encrypted.
