New York Life Insurance Company MOVEit Data Breach

Maxey Law Firm is investigating New York Life Insurance Company, which recently sent notice of a data breach to impacted individuals. The notice states that the data breach arose from a vulnerability in a file transfer application that New York Life Insurance Company’s service provider uses called MOVEit.

New York Life Insurance Company reported that the third-party data breach impacted 35,062 individuals.

For each of these 35,062 individuals, the information involved may have included their name and Social Security number.

It is unclear whether or not the Social Security numbers were encrypted and, if not, why they were not encrypted.
