Dufresne Spencer Group Data Breach Class Action Lawsuit Investigation

Maxey Law Firm is investigating Dufresne Spencer Group, which recently sent notice of a data breach to impacted individuals.

The notice states an unauthorized party gained access to Dufresne Spencer Group’s information technology environment between May 15-June 5, 2023, during which the unauthorized party accessed and/or acquired files on its systems that contain personal information.

Dufresne Spencer Group reported that the data breach may have impacted 61,667 Texas residents. Residents of other states were also impacted.

For each of these individuals, the information involved may have included their name, Social Security number, date of birth, driver’s license, banking information (i.e., account number, routing number), digital signature.

It is unclear whether or not the Social Security numbers were encrypted and, if not, why they were not encrypted.
