Fairfax Oral and Maxillofacial (“FOMS”) Data Breach

Maxey Law Firm is investigating Fairfax Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery ("FOMS"), which recently sent notice of a data breach to impacted individuals. The notice states that the data breach arose when an unauthorized party accessed FOMS’ computer network between May 15, 2023 and May 16, 2023 and encrypted certain files on FOMS’ systems.

FOMS reported that the data breach affected 206,944 individuals.

For each of these 206,944 individuals, the information involved may have included their name, driver’s license number, health insurance information, medical history information, and/or Social Security number.

The notice does not state whether or not the Social Security numbers and other sensitive information were encrypted and, if not, why they were not encrypted.
