M&T Bank MOVEit Cybersecurity Incident

Maxey Law Firm is investigating M&T Bank, which recently sent notice of a cybersecurity incident to impacted individuals. The notice states that the cybersecurity incident arose from a vulnerability in a file transfer application that M&T Bank’s external service providers use called MOVEit.

M&T Bank reported that the Data Breach impacted 95,261 Massachusetts residents. The cybersecurity incident may have also impacted residents of other states.

For impacted individuals, the information involved may have included their name, address and M&T checking, savings and/or money market account number(s).

It is unclear whether or not the account numbers and other sensitive information were encrypted and, if not, why they were not encrypted.
