Mauch Chunk Trust Company (“MCT”) MOVEit Data Security Incident

Maxey Law Firm is investigating Mauch Chunk Trust Company (“MCT”), which recently sent a Notice of Data Security Incident to impacted individuals. The notice states that the Data Security Incident arose from a vulnerability in a file transfer application that MCT’s vendor, Darling Consulting Group, uses called MOVEit.

MCT reported that the Data Security Incident impacted 29,949 individuals.

For each of these 29,949 individuals, the information involved may have included their name, financial account number, and/or credit/debit card number (in combination with security code, access code, password, or PIN).

It is unclear whether or not the financial account numbers and other sensitive information were encrypted and, if not, why they were not encrypted.
