OE Federal Credit (“OEFCU”) Union Data Breach Class Action Lawsuit

Maxey Law Firm is investigating OE Federal Credit Union (“OEFCU”), which recently sent notice of a data breach to impacted individuals.

The notice states on or about October 28, 2023, OEFCU detected unauthorized access to its network as a result of a cybersecurity incident that resulted in the potential exposure of the data it maintains.

OEFCU reported that the data breach may have impacted 2,290 Texas residents and an unknown number of California residents. Residents of other states may have also been impacted.

For each of these individuals, the information involved may have included their name, Social Security number, driver’s license number, government-issued ID number (e.g. passport, state ID card), and/or financial information (e.g. account number, credit or debit card number).

It is unclear whether or not the Social Security numbers were encrypted and, if not, why they were not encrypted.
