Planet Home Lending Data Breach Class Action Lawsuit Investigation

Maxey Law Firm is investigating Planet Home Lending, LLC (“Planet”), which recently sent notice of a data breach to impacted individuals.

The notice states that a ransomware attack occurred on November 15, 2023, during which the threat actor accessed a read-only data folder in which copies of loan files containing personally identifiable information of some of Planet’s customers were stored.

Planet reported that the data breach may have impacted 199,873 individuals.

For each of these individuals, the information involved may have included their name, address, Social Security number, loan number, and financial account number.

It is unclear whether or not the Social Security numbers were encrypted and, if not, why they were not encrypted.
