South Texas Oncology and Hematology (“STOH”) Data Breach Lawsuit Investigation

Maxey Law Firm is investigating South Texas Oncology and Hematology, PLLC (“STOH”), which recently sent notice of a data breach to impacted individuals.

The notice states that on February 15, 2024, STOH detected unusual activity on its network and discovered that it was the victim of a cybersecurity incident. On February 19, 2024, STOH first discovered that personal information stored on its servers may have been compromised.

STOH reported that the data breach may have impacted 171,378 Texas residents. Residents of other states may also have been impacted.

For each of these individuals, the information involved may have included their name, address, Social Security number, medical information, health insurance information, and/or date of birth.

It is unclear whether or not the Social Security numbers were encrypted and, if not, why they were not encrypted.
