Umpqua Bank MOVEit Data Security Incident

Maxey Law Firm is investigating Umpqua Bank, which recently sent notice of a Data Security Incident to impacted individuals. The notice states that the Data Security Incident arose from a vulnerability in a file transfer application, called MOVEit, that Umpqua Bank’s third-party vendor uses.

Umpqua Bank reported that the Data Security Incident affected 429,252 individuals.

For impacted individuals, the information involved may have included their name and/or Social Security number.

It is unclear whether or not the Social Security numbers and other sensitive information were encrypted and, if not, why they were not encrypted.
